Overflows and Launders
In this example, the simulation was used to accurately calculate the capacity of the combined launder and overflow system. The results of this simulation were used to determine the maximum capacity of the system for a safety assessment and to determine which section was the limiting factor. Other effects such as the influence of a sealed overflow chamber compared to a vented designs were also quantified.
The free surface multiphase model used in this example has a range of industrial applications which can include:
- flow of segregated liquids and gases in vessels and pipes
- slug flow
- trapped gases in piping systems
- jet breakup
- motion of large bubbles in a liquid
- motion of liquid after a dam break
